Conditionally its possible to divide any seminar, conference, forum or something
similar into three stages: arrival and preliminary acquaintance of the participants,
official part of event and cultural program. Probably someone can be applied these
frameworks to our training week but in a reality there are exceptions to the rules. Let's
discuss it.
Imagine of autumn St. Petersburg with a plenty of gloomy houses, grey channels with
graceful cast bridges, crowd of yellow-red leaves, which fly in air and disturbing you
when you walk along narrow streets. Drizzle irritates because the wet footwear and dirty
clothes. By the word there isnt enough of pleasure even for outdoor fans. It seems
everything was against that you were impressed with stay in this city, but All of this
despondency of the first day was easily crossed out by group of 23 colleagues, which
didnt imagine what pleasant, warm and surprising will become this city for them only
for one week
In the beginning there is some information about participants. Has appeared that in St.
Petersburg so motley audience was going that some of us had to recall the last school
years and geographical situation of cities whence there have arrived the participants. We
simply shall name these cities: Kaliningrad, Veliky Novgorod, Moscow, Archangelsk,
Tolyatti, Taganrog, Smolensk, Voronezh, Bryansk, Chelyabinsk, Krasnodar and St.-Petersburg
of course. I think that there is no necessity to speak in details about specific of the
enterprises, which have directed the representatives to our youth meeting. Imagine the
peacock tail and recall what amount of colors on it. At now you understand what Im talk
about?
Well, its time for most important part of my story - the history of week.
Day First. Sunday, September 29.
Small informal party in the early evening and the modest hints on the reputed cultural
program in the late evening took place. Russians executive sometimes and line It is
highly appreciated, if you also spend your evenings (and nights) as a group from the
Jorunns e-mail we have accepted as the guide to action.
Speaking truly this instruction began realized actively only since Monday. But due to the
first day both Vadim and Vadim were pleasantly amazed that the agriculture is common
sphere of their activity. Little bit later Elman has joined to them. Both Elenas have
exchanged experience of power switch management. Thanks a lot to Svetlana from
Moscow because everybody has found out what paper it is necessary to purchase for office
work. Detailed structure of the Arkhangelsk seaport have stated to us by Svetlana and
Dmitry. Kaliningrad was represented by four persons from different lines of business:
food-processing industry, shipbuilding and telecommunications. Many from us have seen a
map of a local cellular network covering zone offered by Andrey and nice packing boxes of
Russian Rice Company taken on a training by Oleg.
So it is possible to keep indefinitely and to recollect for example the equipment for
car-care center, lighting devices, but in this case story will be similar to the detailed
statistics instead of commentary to photos. Therefore let me to finish on it.
Day Second. Monday, September 30.
Who could imagine that the English language from 9 o'clock till 18 o'clock will tire our
souls and mist will cover our mind. But its necessary to note that all participants
have shown diligence at studying the Project Management and nobody has declared, that all
this things is well known to him or her. By the evening desire to hear the native language
was finally generated and some colleagues have found forces in themselves to visit
numerous entertaining places of night St. Petersburg. However we hadnt a rest from the
English, because we heard it in many public places of city.
Day Third. Tuesday, October 1.
Frank van Dam (our Dutch teacher) at last has experienced an audience, its a lot of
jokes and cheerful situations took place. Unfortunately information about evening cultural
program of the given day didnt remain in my memory.
Day Fourth. Wednesday, October 2.
We built bridges: four projects with absolute various designs were developed. The Dutch
teachers were shaken by speed of fulfillment of the task and irrationality of Russians:
four hours were given for work but more than 3 hours were chaos in auditorium and only
within 30 last minutes the ready projects and the models of bridges have begun to be made
out.
Just this day Frank has fascinated all girls (6 pretty young ladies) and has committed
attempt to steal their hearts when he has departed in the evening to his native land -
country of polders, flowers and windmills. But guard of 17 men safely has kept of the
girls by not giving them to follow for Frank abroad. So the girls have found out what that
means Russian patriotism!
Day Fifth. Thursday, October 3.
This day many of us have seen that presentation it a rather comedy show if you havent
enough experience and skills in this subject. But the evening has appeared cheerful and
many from us have conducted rehearsal of a final banquet and actively participate in the
night program of Stables Yard club. And only in midnight many colleagues have
understood how many positive emotions they have received for these few wonderful days.
Day Sixth. Friday, October 4.
The last day was devoted to negotiations skills. What it would be desirable to note?
Unforgettable impression from negotiations organized by the group Hard. Probably many
from us have remembered what pressure on Jorunn where exert by Vadim Negrov. Certainly
special effect was made using a joke with the cellular telephone instead of which the pack
of cigarettes was used.
Now there are some details about a final banquet.
The guys from Kaliningrad have left earlier and we regret for it. During a banquet half of
group seeing off other half of group has make a little blue. Some not clear melancholy has
appeared. Nobody could imagine earlier that at one place and at one time so many people
with similar interests and life priorities will be going. Though in the beginning most of
us dont share emotions with others, the atmosphere at the end of the first week of
training reminded informal and restful picture: soft marine breeze, bright sun, cool
cocktails, charming evening etc. Certainly, it will be difficult to forget such meeting
and we still have hope that it will be continued
